Fun things to do in Lake Tahoe...

Golf a world-famous golf course: Nestled along the lake’s beautiful south shore, Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course has continually been rated by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the country’s top courses. Each July Edgewood hosts the nationally televised American Celebrity Golf Tournament featuring names in sports and entertainment such as Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, John Elway and Mario Lemuiex. Take a four-wheel adventure tour: Guides at Lake Tahoe Adventures will take you on the world-famous Rubicon Trail, the most challenging four-by-four trail in North America, on an ATV or Buggy. Or tour Genoa Peak, 9,150 feet in elevation, on a Jeep or Hummer. (530) 577-2940.

Go fishing: Lake Tahoe is known as one of the greatest fresh water fisheries on the west coast. Professionally guided sport and fly fishing charters will take you to the lake’s hot fishing spots. Local charters include Mile High Fishing Charters (530) 541-5312, and Tahoe Sport Fishing (775) 586-9338.

Ski Heavenly: Heavenly Ski Resort is the area’s largest mountain resort. Rising more than 3,000 feet above the lake, thirty lifts will take you to 4,800 acres of ski terrain and seven on-mountain lodges covering both California and Nevada, with breathtaking panoramic views of the Carson Valley, the lake and mountains. Kayak on the lake: Kayak Tahoe is the area’s favorite kayaking company. Daily guided tours include Emerald Bay, Truckee River Wildlife, tours of the east shore, and sunset tours. (530) 544-2011.

Hike the Tahoe Rim Trail: A must for the avid outdoors person! The 164-mile trail circles Lake Tahoe, and winds through two states, several wilderness areas, National Forest and state park lands, and an incredible diversity of geology, landscape and beauty. A multi-use path, much of the Tahoe Rim Trail was constructed for the pleasure of hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers… and paths along the trail can be as short, or as long, as you’d like!

Hike Spooner Lake: Spooner Lake, at the intersection of State Route 28 and U.S. 50, is popular for picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, catch-and-release fishing and cross country skiing, Spooner Lake is also a trail head with access to the back country, which provides miles of hiking, equestrian and mountain biking trails..

Hike to the top of a waterfall: Cascade Falls is our personal favorite. A short 1-mile hike provides spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and Cascade Lake along the way. For the adventuresome, do a loop by going to Eagle Lake and Eagle Falls and back to your car.
